I’m not sure when I first stumbled upon Vetiver (named after a grass), but it was their 2008 album Thing of the Past that got me hooked.  The album is full of old songs from artists that influenced lead singer/songwriter Andy Cabic in one way or another.  “Hook & Ladder” and “The Swimming Song” are my personal favorites.  It’s the perfect album for a lovely summer day, sitting on your back porch with an ice cold beer.  Since that’s what I have in mind to do tonight (it’s my head cold cure) I thought a little Vetiver would be in order.  I highly recommend Thing of the Past, but if you’re looking for some original material 2009’s Tight Knit is pretty darn good as well.
